DAY 1: Today we begin our tour to the Quad Cities of Davenport & Bettendorf, IA and Rock Island & Moline, IL. We get acquainted with our traveling companions while we travel across southern Minnesota and continue south into Iowa. Overnight -
Davenport, IA DAY 2: Following an included
Breakfast, we journey to the
John Deere Harvester Factory for a tour. John Deere Harvester Works, a near 200-acre facility, began building horse-drawn harvesting equipment in 1913. Today, it produces its full line of combines, which can be made to order. Visitors ride on moving carts through the 1 1/2-hour trip and see the main production line, from start to finish. Next, we visit the
John Deere World Headquarters where we can see displays of antique John Deere equipment, and get up close and personal with a variety of the company's new equipment offerings. The display floor also features a three-dimensional mural by Alexander Girard. The mural contains 2200 authentic pieces of memorabilia dating from 1837-1918, spanning the company's first 75 years of operation. The
John Deere Pavilion was created as a celebration of the past, present and future of agribusiness. It has attracted guests from all corners of the globe and is recognized as the world’s most comprehensive agricultural exhibit. We will have free time here to look around and for lunch on our own. This afternoon brings us to
Boetje’s Mustard and a tour of the facility that has been creating gold medal winning mustard since 1889. Our culinary treats continue with a
Chocolate Lover’s Tour & Demonstration at
Chocolate Manor. This evening we are in for “a taste of Broadway” as we visit
Circa’ 21 Dinner Playhouse. We will be treated to a delicious included
Dinner as well as the Broadway style production of “
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” This is definitely a show for the young and the young at heart! Overnight -
Davenport, IA (B) (D)DAY 3: This morning after an included
Breakfast, we tour the
Rock Island Arsenal. Rock Island Arsenal is an active US Army facility located on a 946-acre island in the Mississippi River. Isabel Bloom creations have a place in many collections. This morning we will tour the
Isabel Bloom Studio. During our guided tour we’ll have behind-the-scenes access to every step in the making of each Isabel Bloom sculpture. We’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions, preview new designs and offer opinions on future sculptures. This afternoon we travel to LeClaire, IA, a beautiful, scenic 15-minute drive from the Quad Cities along the Mississippi River at the intersection of the Great River Road. It is known for being the birthplace of the legendary Buffalo Bill and a great antiquing destination. After free time to explore the downtown and have a leisurely lunch, our motorcoach will be available to take us to some of the antique shops. We have six on our list so far. Those of us who prefer can remain in the downtown area for shopping or go to the Buffalo Bill Museum. (B)
DAY 4: Today our travel is in the direction of home. We will long remember the sights, tastes, and treasures purchased on this 4-day tour to the agricultural heartland.
